An Independent supporters can help in a number of ways:

discussing letters and reports about SEND issues

helping to empower a parent/carer or young person to express their views and opinions around SEND issues

providing practical support during a meeting at school or college

Who are our volunteers?

Independent parental supporters are volunteers who come from across Tyneside and have a range of interests and expertise.

They often become a volunteer Independent Parental Supporter (IPS) because they have an interest in special educational needs, having worked in education or having been the parent or grandparent of a child with special needs themselves.
